projects in the works...

I know I haven't been writing on a regular basis, but I have been working on two really exciting projects that have taken up a lot of my time.
It won't be long now before I can share these with you as well....

Hope everyone has had a nice week so far!!

Ok, back to the time consuming projects.... Once these are both over, I will be back to making regular posts for your reading pleasure.

Thanks!

The Rock Doesn't Stop...

Starting today, every Wednesday, I'm going to be highlighting a few shows/events around the region for the upcoming week.... Here are my top three picks...

Pick number one:
Tomorrow night, the 16th at The Hi-Tone in Memphis, Swedish Psych/Indie Rock band Dungen is playing with No Joy from Canada.
Free Jameson Tasting for 21+ers from 9PM-10
Doors at 9pm/
18+ show
Dungen is on this US tour in support of their just released their 4th album. They will also be playing Bonnaroo at next (2011) years fest.

It's not every night that you get two bands on one bill from out-of-the country. This is the same venue that has seen the likes of Elvis Costello (twice), The Shins, and The Oblivians grace the stage. Personally, one of my favorite venues in the country.

Pick number two:
Vox presents Beer, Blues, & BBQ with Scott Barrettaa and Effie Burt
from 7PM- 9:30PM, tomorrow night, the 16th at The Powerhouse in Oxford.
Scott Barretta interviews blues singer Effie Burt and will show the short film "Smoke and Ears," the story of a Jackson restaurant's 70-year-old tradition of serving smoked pig ear sandwiches. Music by Burt and her band. BBQ from Tallulah's. Beer!
Admission is free! Food and drink for a small donation.

Pick number three:
Tonight,  the 15th, Ghostland Observatory  returns to  The Lyric!!!
18+ show
DOORS: 8:00PM
SHOW: 9:00PM
GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY
Ghostland Observatory is not a band, but an agreement between two
friends to create something that not only heals their beat-driven hearts, but pleases their rock ‘n roll souls. Taking the working man’s approach, Ghostland Observatory spend countless hours in their south Austin studio.

Greetings From Mississippi

I was born in Mississippi. We moved when I was nine. Then I moved back when I was 29. Gladly.
When I tell people where I live, they seem confused with my response of Mississippi.
Most folks outside of this great state have never set foot inside. They only know what they've read in history books and think that Mississippi still lives by its past. Well, thank goodness, it does not. It's so much more than that. And now there is a website to display just how much more there is to this beautiful state and how vastly different Mississippi can be.

Greetings From Mississippi is put together by about 20 different folks, all with love for our state.

It's been suggested to hit the random button to see what pops up. Have fun!!

Anthology Unveiled

A new design magazine was unveiled today called Anthology. (via Design*Sponge)
I got a yearly subscription of four issues. It looks amazing and I can't wait for my first issue to arrive.
You can get a sneak peek here.

Enjoy!!

Design just got real

Ok, I like new twists on old design.  But this takes it to a new level. These tape MP3 players are awesome.

When I just came across this via Fossil I had to repost it instantly.
I think I need one of these.... although, I don't know how much I'd use it. It certainly fun to look at though.

Rambling Road Interiors

Good morning!
I'm back on track after a busy weekend with the
Water Valley Artists Studio Crawl on Friday.
It was so much fun to see so many people in the Valley!

And then the next night, the Amelia one year anniversary party and art show for Amy Evans Streeter.
Also, so much fun!! I'll post pictures in the next few days.

BUT enough about that... I just discovered a local blog that is really clever a.k.a. awesome!
Mary- Kathryn Millner and her mom, Kathy, have a booth at Tin Pan Ally in Taylor and also have a blog called Rambling Road Interiors.

How great is their header?!?! (I have a thing for vintage bikes... it's a problem actually)
Go read for yourselves... Lots of great ideas. Mary-Kathryn also has her own blog, equally as great!

Web Design hits Oxford

So, when it came to getting a website for Amelia, I felt overwhelmed. I'm not computer savvy nor do I have a very long rope in this world either. It seemed daunting for sure.  Well, my good friend James stepped up to the plate around the same time with his web business that he was just getting off the ground.

After talking to him about my ideas and what he could do to make them reality as well as bring in a lot of his own, I instantly felt better about the process.
Soon, ameliapresents.com was born.
I couldn't have been happier!!!

BUT NOW.....

I give you CONFIT.
This is James's website for his amazing knowledge and creative eye!!! Now you too can have an awesome website. Contact him. He can build from scratch, work on what you have, ect....
