VOX PRESS ARTISTS SERIES presents "Dynamic Duo: An Evening with Neil White and Louis Bourgeois" at 7:30 p.m. , Tuesday, November 30th at the Powerhouse in downtown Oxford. Neil White is the author of In the Sanctuary of Outcasts, a book that tells the story about his experiences as a federal prisoner in America's last leprosarium. White is also the founder and editor of Nautilus Publishing Company located in Taylor, Mississippi. Louis Bourgeois is the author of The Gar Diaries which tells about his experiences growing up working class along the bayous of South Louisiana. Bourgeois is the founder and Executive Director of VOX PRESS, a non-profit avant-garde literary press. The evening will include music by the experimental sound band Yodeling Anarcho Syndicalists of Oxford, Mississippi, and a visual memoir display by Oxford photographer Mike Stanton.
Red beans and rice with corn bread will be served along with wine from West Jackson Wine and Spirits for a small donation.
The event is free to the public but donations to VOX PRESS, INC are greatly appreciated and can be made at the event or online atwww.voxpressonline.com. VOX PRESS, INC is a non-profit literary press based in Oxford since 2004. The VOX PRESS ARTISTS SERIES is sponsored in part by the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and the Mississippi Arts Commission. The Series seeks to offer a free community forum for celebration and appreciation of the arts.
